5. How to create/post/retrieve/grade an assignment on Blackboard Blackboard is helpful in sharing an assignment with students and to have the texts of different assignments readily accessible for students in one place. You can have students submit assignments/papers via Blackboard and then you can access it through the Grade Center. >> After logging in to Blackboard and finding your course, follow these steps [videos#1+2] >> If you have a grader who needs access to student assignments submitted to Blackboard, you’d need to make sure they are added to your course on Blackboard and that they are assigned the appropriate role. For guidance, see this link and this link. You’ll need your grader’s employee ID (EMPL ID) to do this. With questions about this, contact BCTC (646-312-1010).
6. How to post grades on Blackboard You can use Blackboard to post grades for students’ various assignments. You do that in the Grade Center. >> After logging in to BB and finding your course, watch this video. Note: you can also use the Grade Center to manage your grades without linking it to an assignment. 7. How to set up a Discussion Board assignment on Blackboard The Discussion Board feature of Blackboard is a great way for all students to participate equally (even those who are naturally shy in a class session) by asking them to share brief written responses to readings, for example. They are quite easy to set up and manage, though it may take some practice to get a sense of how Blackboard organizes their Discussion Boards. Students get the hang of this quickly. >> After logging in to Blackboard and finding your course, watch this video to create a Discussion Board (not a CUNY video, but I found it helpful).
8. What is Blackboard Collaborate Ultra? Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is a real-time conferencing tool in Blackboard that allows to do teach remotely in a synchronous manner, and/or you can record a session for students to watch later. This is something to consider for folks who are already comfortable working with BB (if you are a BB novice, I’d say skip this for now). For a very quick overview (from the company itself), see this YouTube video. For more information, see these instructions and this support information. >> A ~ 30-minute tutorial on Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (not made by Baruch, but helpful nonetheless). >> Keep in mind that Baruch servers become busy very quickly, and it is likely that BB Collaborate Ultra will experience hiccups in coming weeks. Please also consider using asynchronous and low-tech distance teaching options.
